Pillager Huskies (Pillager, MN) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Verndale Pirates (Verndale, MN), 65-54 in a league bout.

With the win, Pillager upgrades its record to 7-9 on the season. The Huskies travel to Staples-Motley (Staples, MN) to play the Cardinals in a non-league bout on Monday, February 6. The Cardinals go into the bout with a record of 6-7. Staples-Motley lost 69-64 in their recent league bout against Crosby-Ironton (Crosby, MN)

Next up, the Pirates play the Menahga Braves (Menahga, MN) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, February 7. Verndale will attempt to upgrade on its 5-10 season record. The Braves go into the bout with a 5-11 record after their 56-45 non-league loss to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle (Long Prairie, MN).
