The Portage Central Mustangs basketball team scored 42 points and restricted the visiting Mattawan Wildcats to 40 in the Mustangs league victory on Thursday.

The Mustangs now sport a 5-8 record. They put it on the line next when they host Central for a non-league contest on Tuesday, February 7. Portage Central will battle a Bearcats team coming off a 30-26 league loss to Lakeview (Battle Creek, MI). The Bearcats record now stands at 3-10.

The Wildcats (7-6) will now prepare for their contest against Lakeview (Battle Creek, MI). The Spartans come into the non-league contest with a 8-6 record. In their last contest, Lakeview edged Central (Battle Creek, MI), 30-26, in a league contest.
