The Halifax County Comets tipped the host Bassett Bengals basketball team by a final score of 56-50 in Friday's league game.

In their next game, the Comets face the Northern Durham Knights (Durham, NC) in a non-league game, on Monday, February 5. Halifax County will attempt to move on its 9-12 season record. The Knights enter the game with a 9-10 record after their 56-52 league loss to East Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, NC).

With the defeat, Bassett moves to 4-16 on the year. The Bengals host Mecklenburg County (Baskerville, VA) to face the Phoenix in a Freelance game on Tuesday, February 6. The Phoenix enter the game with a record of 7-11. Mecklenburg County lost 61-37 in their recent league game against Tunstall (Dry Fork, VA)
