Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Gatesville Hornets (Gatesville, TX) and the visiting Salado Eagles (Salado, TX), saw Gatesville's basketball squad overcome Salado by a tally of 67-47.

With the victory, Gatesville improves its record to 23-9 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to La Vega (Waco, TX) to confront the Pirates in a 4A Region III District 23 challenge on Tuesday, February 6. The Pirates come into the challenge with a record of 20-4. La Vega won 45-41 in their recent league challenge against Connally (Waco, TX)

Next up, the Eagles confront the China Spring Cougars (China Spring, TX) in a 4A Region III District 23 challenge, on Tuesday, February 6. Salado will attempt to improve on its 9-21 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 14-18 record after their 36-32 league loss to Robinson (Robinson, TX).
