Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Motley County Matadors (Matador, TX) and the visiting Patton Springs Rangers (Afton, TX), saw Motley County's basketball squad hold off Patton Springs by a tally of 42-40.

With the victory, Motley County improves its record to 7-10 on the campaign. The Matadors travel to Guthrie (Guthrie, TX) to play the Jaguars in a 1A Region I District 5 challenge on Tuesday, February 6. The Jaguars come into the challenge with a record of 8-18. Guthrie lost 97-53 in their recent league challenge against Paducah (Paducah, TX)

Next up, the Rangers play the Spur Bulldogs (Spur, TX) in a 1A Region I District 5 challenge, on Tuesday, February 6. Patton Springs will attempt to improve on its 7-15 season record. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a 4-16 record after their 92-33 league loss to Jayton (Jayton, TX).
