Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Washburn Beavers (Washburn, ME) and the visiting Easton Bears (Easton, ME), saw Washburn's basketball squad hold off Easton by a count of 23-22.

With the victory, Washburn upgrades its record to 7-9 on the campaign. The Beavers host East Grand (Dansforth, ME) to play the Vikings in a D North challenge on Monday, February 5. The Vikings come into the challenge with a record of 3-13. East Grand lost 42-24 in their recent league challenge against Shead (Eastport, ME)

Next up, the Bears play the Wisdom Pioneers (St. Agatha, ME) in a D North challenge, on Saturday, February 3. Easton will attempt to upgrade on its 7-9 season record. The Pioneers come into the challenge with a 10-5 record after their 70-42 league loss to Southern Aroostook (Dyer Brook, ME).
