L.W. Higgins Hurricanes (Marrero, LA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Fisher Gators (Lafitte, LA), 33-16 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, L.W. Higgins upgrades its record to 19-4 on the campaign. The Hurricanes travel to Academy of Our Lady (Marrero, LA) to play the Penguins in a 4A District 10 bout on Monday, February 5. The Penguins come into the bout with a record of 6-11. Academy of Our Lady won 43-22 in their recent league bout against Landry (New Orleans, LA)

Next up, the Gators play the McGehee Hawks (New Orleans, LA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, February 6. Fisher will attempt to upgrade on its 4-11 season record. The Hawks come into the bout with a 10-7 record after their 52-50 non-league loss to St. Martin's Episcopal (Metairie, LA).
