Nowata Ironmen (Nowata, OK) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Oklahoma Union Cougars (South Coffeyville, OK), 33-32 in a league bout.

With the victory, Nowata upgrades its record to 11-10 on the campaign. The Ironmen travel to Caney Valley (Ramona, OK) to play the Trojans in a Northeast Valley bout on Tuesday, February 6. The Trojans come into the bout with a record of 12-7. Caney Valley won 53-26 in their recent non-league bout against Barnsdall (Barnsdall, OK)

Next up, the Cougars play the Preston Pirates (Preston, OK) in a non-league bout, on Monday, February 5. Oklahoma Union will attempt to upgrade on its 0-16 season record. The Pirates come into the bout with a 16-4 record after their 56-21 non-league win over Beggs (Beggs, OK).
