Walker Valley Mustangs (Cleveland, TN) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Rhea County Golden Eagles (Evensville, TN), 52-35 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Walker Valley upgrades its record to 13-11 on the campaign. The Mustangs host McMinn County (Athens, TN) to play the Cherokees in a 4A District 5 bout on Tuesday, February 6. The Cherokees come into the bout with a record of 6-7.

Next up, the Golden Eagles play the Cleveland Blue Raiders (Cleveland, TN) in a 4A District 5 bout, on Saturday, February 3. Rhea County will attempt to upgrade on its 12-12 season record. The Blue Raiders come into the bout with a 16-7 record after their 61-50 non-league loss to Bradley Central (Cleveland, TN).
