The Monte Vista Monarchs (Spring Valley, CA) basketball nipped the host Grossmont Foothillers (El Cajon, CA), 31-27 in Friday's league test.

The Monarchs (4-5) will now prepare for their test against Helix (La Mesa, CA). The Highlanders go into the test with a 10-2 record.

The Foothillers now own a 1-4 record. They play next when they travel to El Capitan for a test on Tuesday, February 6.
