Chanute Blue Comets (Chanute, KS) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Independence Bulldogs (Independence, KS), 63-58 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Chanute upgrades its record to 15-4 on the campaign. The Blue Comets host Parsons (Parsons, KS) to play the Vikings in a non-league bout on Friday, February 23. The Vikings come into the bout with a record of 8-10. Parsons lost 51-39 in their recent non-league bout against Independence (Independence, KS)

Next up, the Bulldogs play the Fort Scott Tigers (Fort Scott, KS) in a non-league bout, on Friday, February 23. Independence will attempt to upgrade on its 4-15 season record. The Tigers come into the bout with a 13-6 record after their 56-45 non-league loss to Field Kindley (Coffeyville, KS).
