The Vernon Lions baseball team scored 16 runs and held the visiting Gainesville Leopards to 6 in the Lions non-league win on Friday.

The Lions now hold a 1-4 record. They take the field next when they host Pampa for a non-league test on Saturday, February 21. Vernon will play a Harvesters team coming off a 11-1 non-league win over Muleshoe (Muleshoe, TX). The Harvesters record now stands at 2-0.

With the defeat, Gainesville drops to 0-3 on the year. The Leopards travel to Liberty Christian (Argyle, TX) to play the Warriors in a non-league test on Monday, February 23. The Warriors go into the test with a record of 1-2. Liberty Christian lost 7-6 in their recent non-league test against Ryan (Denton, TX)
