The Mascoma Royals basketball team scored 87 points and limited the visiting Newport Tigers to 53 in the Royals non-league triumph on Friday.

The Royals now have a 21-1 record. They play next when they travel to Kearsarge for a non-league game on Wednesday, February 26. Mascoma will confront a Cougars team coming off a 48-45 non-league win over Gilford (Gilford, NH). The Cougars record now stands at 18-2.

With the loss, Newport falls to 16-8 on the campaign.
