Mater Dei Monarchs (Santa Ana, CA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Los Alamitos Griffins (Los Alamitos, CA), 9-8 in a non-league challenge.

The Monarchs now sport a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Torrance for a non-league challenge on Monday, March 4.

With the loss, Los Alamitos falls to 3-3 on the campaign. The Griffins travel to Pacifica (Garden Grove, CA) to face the Mariners in a non-league challenge on Friday, March 8. The Mariners enter the challenge with a record of 5-0.
