Mississippi High School Softball - Loyd Star edges Vicksburg

February 27, 2025: Vicksburg, MS 39180

The Loyd Star Hornets softball team scored 11 runs and held the host Vicksburg Gators to 9 in the Hornets non-league win on Thursday.

The Hornets now sport a 6-1 record. They put it on the line next when they host West Marion for a non-league battle on Saturday, March 1. Loyd Star will confront a Trojans team coming off a 12-3 non-league win over Salem (Tylertown, MS). The Trojans record now stands at 8-0.

With the loss, Vicksburg moves to 0-3 on the season. The Gators host Neshoba Central (Philadelphia, MS) to confront the Rockets in a 6A Region 2 battle on Monday, March 3. The Rockets come into the battle with a record of 1-2. Neshoba Central lost 14-2 in their recent non-league battle against Brandon (Brandon, MS)
