The Newton County Cougars the visiting Clinton Arrows softball squad by a count of 5-3 in Friday's non-league challenge.

Next, the Cougars meet the Brandon Bulldogs (Brandon, MS) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, March 1. Newton County will attempt to upgrade on its 4-2 season record. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a 3-0 record after their 16-6 non-league win over Warren Central (Vicksburg, MS).

The Arrows (4-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Northwest Rankin (Brandon, MS). The Cougars enter the non-league challenge with a 5-0 record. In their last challenge, Northwest Rankin edged West Lauderdale (Collinsville, MS), 3-1, in a non-league challenge.
