Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Wingate Bears (Fort Wingate, NM), 58-44 in a league bout.

With the victory, Zuni upgrades its record to 7-9 on the campaign. The Thunderbirds travel to Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM) to play the Eagles in a 3A District 1 bout on Saturday, February 5. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 10-7. Navajo Prep won 76-45 in their recent league bout against Thoreau (Thoreau, NM)

Next up, the Bears play the Navajo Prep Eagles (Farmington, NM) in a 3A District 1 bout, on Tuesday, February 8. Wingate will attempt to upgrade on its 3-12 season record.
