Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs (Melrose, WI) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Augusta Beavers (Augusta, WI), 48-41 in a league bout.

With the victory, Melrose-Mindoro upgrades its record to 8-11 on the campaign. The Mustangs host Cashton (Cashton, WI) to play the Eagles in a non-league bout on Monday, February 7. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 7-12. Cashton lost 57-39 in their recent league bout against Hillsboro (Hillsboro, WI)

Next up, the Beavers play the Thorp Cardinals (Thorp, WI) in a non-league bout, on Monday, February 7. Augusta will attempt to upgrade on its 8-13 season record. The Cardinals come into the bout with a 2-16 record after their 58-25 league loss to Fall Creek (Fall Creek, WI).
