The Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA) basketball nipped the host Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA), 83-79 in Friday's league test.
The Maroon Tide (3-17) will now prepare for their test against Northwood (Saltville, VA). The Panthers go into the non-league test with a 7-13 record.
The Spartans now own a 6-14 record. They play next when they host Grayson County for a Mountain Empire test on Wednesday, February 8. Giles will encounter a Blue Devils squad coming off a 71-38 league loss to George Wythe (Wytheville, VA). The Blue Devils record now stands at 5-13.
