Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Laurel Spartan (New Castle, PA) and the visiting Sewickley Academy (Sewickley, PA), saw Laurel's basketball squad overcome Sewickley Academy by a tally of 55-36.

With the victory, Laurel improves its record to 5-13 on the campaign. The Spartan travel to Aliquippa (Aliquippa, PA) to confront the Quips in a WPIAL 2A 1 contest on Tuesday, February 7. The Quips come into the contest with a record of 14-6. Aliquippa lost 66-54 in their recent non-league contest against Lincoln Park Performing Arts (Midland, PA)

The (2-15) will now prepare for their contest against Aquinas Academy (Gibsonia, PA). The Crusaders come into the non-league contest with a 15-4 record. In their last contest, Aquinas Academy was defeated by Imani Christian Academy (Pittsburgh, PA), 94-73, in a league contest.
