Newton Eagles (Newton, IL) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Marshall Lions (Marshall, IL), 60-47 in a league bout.

With the win, Newton upgrades its record to 17-9 on the season. The Eagles host Tolono Unity (Tolono, IL) to play the Rockets in a non-league bout on Tuesday, February 7. The Rockets go into the bout with a record of 15-11. Tolono Unity won 64-26 in their recent non-league bout against Olympia (Stanford, IL)

Next up, the Lions play the Charleston Trojans (Charleston, IL) in a non-league bout, on Friday, February 10. Marshall will attempt to upgrade on its 2-22 season record. The Trojans go into the bout with a 10-14 record after their 69-61 league win over Effingham (Effingham, IL).
