The Notre Dame Crusaders (Elmira, NY) basketball nipped the visiting Newark Valley Cardinals (Newark Valley, NY), 61-60 in Friday's league test.

The Crusaders (7-9) will now prepare for their test against Newfield (Newfield, NY). The Trojans go into the non-league test with a 16-1 record. In their last test, Newfield got by Tioga (Tioga Center, NY), 73-63, in a league test.

The Cardinals now own a 9-9 record. They play next when they host Watkins Glen for a Section 4 Interscholastic - South Large test on Tuesday, February 7. Newark Valley will encounter a Senecas squad coming off a 66-42 league loss to Waverly (Waverly, NY). The Senecas record now stands at 10-7.
