North Lamar Panthers (Paris, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Pittsburg Pirates (Pittsburg, TX), 49-42 in a league game.

In their next game, the Panthers face the Sulphur Springs Wildcats (Sulphur Springs, TX) in a 4A Region II District 15 game, on Tuesday, February 7. North Lamar will attempt to move on its 8-20 season record. The Wildcats enter the game with a 25-7 record after their 66-46 league win over Liberty-Eylau (Texarkana, TX).

With the defeat, Pittsburg moves to 6-22 on the year. The Pirates travel to Pleasant Grove (Texarkana, TX) to face the Hawks in a 4A Region II District 15 game on Tuesday, February 7. The Hawks enter the game with a record of 5-15. Pleasant Grove lost 62-56 in their recent league game against Paris (Paris, TX)
