Fans at Friday's league challenge between the St. Mary's Hawks (Remsen, IA) and the host Akron-Westfield Westerners (Akron, IA), saw St. Mary's's basketball squad wallop Akron-Westfield by a tally of 69-34.
With the victory, St. Mary's improves its record to 19-1 on the campaign. The Hawks travel to Trinity Christian (Hull, IA) to confront the Tigers in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, February 7. The Tigers come into the challenge with a record of 7-11. Trinity Christian lost 44-40 in their recent non-league challenge against Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn (Hartley, IA)
Next up, the Westerners confront the Hinton Blackhawks (Hinton, IA) in a War Eagle challenge, on Tuesday, February 7. Akron-Westfield will attempt to improve on its 7-10 season record. The Blackhawks come into the challenge with a 14-3 record after their 61-43 league win over West Sioux (Hawarden, IA).
