Azle Hornets (Azle, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Aledo Bearcats (Aledo, TX), 43-41 in a league bout.

With the victory, Azle upgrades its record to 21-10 on the campaign. The Hornets host Saginaw (Saginaw, TX) to play the Rough Riders in a 5A Region I District 5 bout on Monday, February 6. The Rough Riders come into the bout with a record of 15-12. Saginaw lost 58-52 in their recent league bout against Granbury (Granbury, TX)

Next up, the Bearcats play the Brewer Bears (Fort Worth, TX) in a 5A Region I District 5 bout, on Saturday, February 4. Aledo will attempt to upgrade on its 15-15 season record. The Bears come into the bout with a 24-3 record after their 62-53 league win over Saginaw (Saginaw, TX).
