In Friday's league outing, the Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC) basketball squad edged the host Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC), by a count of 55-48.

The Vikings (8-14) will now prepare for their outing against Mitchell (Bakersville, NC). The Mountaineers go into the 1A/2A Conference 42 outing with a 9-13 record. In their last outing, Mitchell was tipped by Rosman (Rosman, NC), 63-49, in a league outing.

The Warhorses now hold a 9-14 record. They play next when they travel to Madison for a 1A/2A Conference 42 outing on Tuesday, February 7. Owen will clash with a Patriots squad coming off a 58-17 league loss to Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC). The Patriots record now stands at 2-21.
