Goodrich Hornets (Goodrich, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting High Island Cardinals (High Island, TX), 69-24 in a league bout.

With the victory, Goodrich upgrades its record to 10-15 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to Spurger (Spurger, TX) to play the Pirates in a 1A Region IV District 28 bout on Tuesday, February 7. The Pirates come into the bout with a record of 11-18. Spurger won 61-23 in their recent league bout against Burkeville (Burkeville, TX)

Next up, the Cardinals play the Zavalla Eagles (Zavalla, TX) in a 1A Region IV District 28 bout, on Tuesday, February 7. High Island will attempt to upgrade on its 7-12 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 12-7 record after their 62-29 league win over Leggett (Leggett, TX).
