Kingwood Park Panthers (Kingwood, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Lufkin Panthers (Lufkin, TX), 44-41 in a league bout.

With the win, Kingwood Park upgrades its record to 13-14 on the season. The Panthers host Dayton (Dayton, TX) to confront the Broncos in a 5A Region II District 16 challenge on Tuesday, February 7. The Broncos come into the challenge with a record of 5-21. Dayton lost 66-23 in their recent league challenge against Huntsville (Huntsville, TX)

Next up, the Panthers confront the Nacogdoches Dragons (Nacogdoches, TX) in a 5A Region II District 16 challenge, on Tuesday, February 7. Lufkin will attempt to improve on its 16-14 season record. The Dragons come into the challenge with a 14-16 record after their 51-35 league win over Porter (Porter, TX).
