Mars Fightin' Planets (Mars, PA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Shaler Area Titans (Pittsburgh, PA), 38-35 in a league bout.

With the victory, Mars upgrades its record to 12-4 on the campaign.

Next up, the Titans play the Hampton Talbots (Allison Park, PA) in a WPIAL 5A 2 bout, on Monday, February 6. Shaler Area will attempt to upgrade on its 14-6 season record. The Talbots come into the bout with a 10-7 record after their 48-42 league loss to Armstrong (Kittanning, PA).
