Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM) and the visiting Wingate Bears (Fort Wingate, NM), saw Zuni's basketball squad wallop Wingate by a count of 69-44.

With the victory, Zuni upgrades its record to 11-7 on the campaign. The Thunderbirds travel to Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM) to play the Eagles in a 3A District 1 challenge on Wednesday, February 8. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 19-3. Navajo Prep won 62-55 in their recent league challenge against Thoreau (Thoreau, NM)

Next up, the Bears play the Newcomb Skyhawks (Newcomb, NM) in a 3A District 1 challenge, on Wednesday, February 8. Wingate will attempt to upgrade on its 5-15 season record. The Skyhawks come into the challenge with a 6-10 record after their 46-23 league loss to Thoreau (Thoreau, NM).
