Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Lathrop Malemutes (Fairbanks, AK) and the visiting Ketchikan Kings (Ketchikan, AK), saw Lathrop's basketball squad hold off Ketchikan by a tally of 45-40.

With the victory, Lathrop improves its record to 2-11 on the campaign. The Malemutes travel to North Pole (North Pole, AK) to play the Patriots in a 4A Mid Alaska challenge on Thursday, February 8. The Patriots come into the challenge with a record of 7-5. North Pole lost 57-37 in their recent league challenge against West Valley (Fairbanks, AK)

Next up, the Kings play the Thunder Mountain Falcons (Juneau, AK) in a 4A Southeast challenge, on Friday, February 9. Ketchikan will attempt to improve on its 4-13 season record. The Falcons come into the challenge with a 13-1 record after their 42-28 league win over Juneau-Douglas (Juneau, AK).
