The crowd at Monday's non-league challenge between the Gueydan Bears (Gueydan, LA) and the visiting Johnson Bayou Rebels (Cameron, LA), observed Gueydan's basketball team edge Johnson Bayou by a score of 53-51.

The Bears (5-20) will now prepare for their challenge against Highland Baptist Christian (New Iberia, LA). The Bears come into the 1A District 6 bout with a 8-19 record. In their last bout, Highland Baptist Christian was edged by Westminster Christian Academy (Lafayette, LA), 64-26, in a league bout.

With the loss, Johnson Bayou falls to 10-22 on the campaign. The Rebels host Singer (Singer, LA) to play the Hornets in a C District 5 bout on Tuesday, February 4. The Hornets go into the bout with a record of 20-13. Singer won 74-70 in their recent league bout against Starks (Starks, LA)
