Weequahic Indians (Newark, NJ) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Cedar Grove Panthers (Cedar Grove, NJ), 55-53 in a league bout.

With the win, Weequahic upgrades its record to 6-12 on the season. The Indians host West Caldwell Tech (West Caldwell, NJ) to clash with the Eagles in a Super Essex - Freedom bout on Tuesday, February 7. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 11-5. West Caldwell Tech won 52-22 in their recent non-league bout against Golda Och Academy (West Orange, NJ)

Next up, the Panthers clash with the Montclair Kimberley Academy Cougars (Montclair, NJ) in a Super Essex - Independence bout, on Tuesday, February 7. Cedar Grove will attempt to upgrade on its 6-9 season record. The Cougars go into the bout with a 11-3 record after their 52-46 non-league win over West Caldwell Tech (West Caldwell, NJ).
