Mankato East Cougars (Mankato, MN) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the host Winona Winhawks (Winona, MN), 72-46 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Mankato East upgrades its record to 12-5 on the campaign. The Cougars host Mayo (Rochester, MN) to play the Spartans in a non-league bout on Tuesday, February 7. The Spartans come into the bout with a record of 14-4. Mayo won 68-57 in their recent non-league bout against Mankato West (Mankato, MN)

Next up, the Winhawks play the Red Wing Wingers (Red Wing, MN) in a AAA Section 1 bout, on Tuesday, February 7. Winona will attempt to upgrade on its 6-10 season record. The Wingers come into the bout with a 3-14 record after their 75-62 non-league loss to Northfield (Northfield, MN).
