Union City Golden Tornadoes (Union City, TN) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host St. Benedict at Auburndale Eagles (Cordova, TN), 49-48 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Union City upgrades its record to 7-16 on the season. The Golden Tornadoes host Gibson County (Dyer, TN) to clash with the Pioneers in a 2A District 12 bout on Tuesday, February 7. The Pioneers go into the bout with a record of 12-6.

Next up, the Eagles clash with the Briarcrest Christian Saints (Eads, TN) in a Division II-AA West bout, on Tuesday, February 7. St. Benedict at Auburndale will attempt to upgrade on its 9-10 season record. The Saints go into the bout with a 27-2 record after their 55-29 league win over Memphis University (Memphis, TN).
