Tohatchi Cougars (Tohatchi, NM) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Thoreau Hawks (Thoreau, NM), 72-49 in a league bout.

With the win, Tohatchi upgrades its record to 14-9 on the season. The Cougars travel to Newcomb (Newcomb, NM) to play the Skyhawks in a 3A District 1 bout on Tuesday, February 7. The Skyhawks go into the bout with a record of 11-11. Newcomb lost 70-55 in their recent league bout against Wingate (Fort Wingate, NM)

Next up, the Hawks play the Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM) in a 3A District 1 bout, on Saturday, February 11. Thoreau will attempt to upgrade on its 6-16 season record. The Thunderbirds go into the bout with a 7-12 record after their 76-25 league loss to Crownpoint (Crownpoint, NM).
