The Russell County Lakers (Russell Springs, KY) basketball were winner over the host Metcalfe County Hornets (Edmonton, KY), 87-78 in Tuesday's league bout.
The Lakers now possess a 14-8 record. They play next when they travel to Monroe County for a District 16 bout on Friday, February 7. Russell County will play a Falcons team coming off a 88-49 non-league loss to Adair County (Columbia, KY). The Falcons record now stands at 11-13.
With the loss, Metcalfe County falls to 7-14 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to Cumberland County (Burkesville, KY) to play the Panthers in a District 16 bout on Friday, February 7. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 11-8. Cumberland County lost 68-60 in their recent non-league bout against Barren County (Glasgow, KY)
