The crowd at Wednesday's league challenge between the Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA) and the visiting Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA), observed Bland County's basketball team overcome Giles by a margin of 60-46.

The Bears (9-8) will now prepare for their challenge against Eastern Montgomery (Elliston, VA). The Mustangs come into the non-league challenge with a 11-7 record. In their last challenge, Eastern Montgomery dropped by Highland (Monterey, VA), 61-49, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Spartans battle the Fort Chiswell Pioneers (Max Meadows, VA) in a Mountain Empire challenge, on Friday, February 7. Giles will attempt to better on its 3-14 season record. The Pioneers come into the challenge with a 14-6 record after their 81-53 league win over Galax (Galax, VA).
