The crowd at Wednesday's league challenge between the Avon Lake Shoremen (Avon Lake, OH) and the host Elyria Pioneers (Elyria, OH), observed Avon Lake's basketball team overwhelm Elyria by a score of 68-21.

The Shoremen (17-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Olmsted Falls (Olmsted Falls, OH). The Bulldogs come into the Southwestern challenge with a 16-4 record. In their last challenge, Olmsted Falls trounced Steele (Amherst, OH), 67-12, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Pioneers encounter the Steele Comets (Amherst, OH) in a Southwestern challenge, on Saturday, February 8. Elyria will attempt to improve on its 2-18 season record. The Comets come into the challenge with a 4-16 record after their 67-12 league loss to Olmsted Falls (Olmsted Falls, OH).
