The crowd at Wednesday's league challenge between the Shaler Area Titans (Pittsburgh, PA) and the host Gateway Gators (Monroeville, PA), observed Shaler Area's basketball team overwhelm Gateway by a score of 52-9.

The Titans (19-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Franklin Regional (Murrysville, PA). The Panthers come into the WPIAL 5A 1 challenge with a 13-5 record. In their last challenge, Franklin Regional trounced Armstrong (Kittanning, PA), 57-17, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Gators battle the Penn Hills Indians (Pittsburgh, PA) in a WPIAL 5A 1 challenge, on Thursday, February 6. Gateway will attempt to improve on its 0-18 season record. The Indians come into the challenge with a 4-14 record after their 45-36 non-league win over Serra Catholic (McKeesport, PA).
