The crowd at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC) and the visiting Topsail Pirates (Hampstead, NC), observed Laney's basketball team knock off Topsail by a score of 53-39.

The Buccaneers (11-3) will now prepare for their challenge against New Hanover (Wilmington, NC). The Wildcats come into the challenge with a 11-2 record. In their last challenge, New Hanover was knocked off by Hoggard (Wilmington, NC), 43-30, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Pirates encounter the South Brunswick Cougars (Southport, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, February 7. Topsail will attempt to improve on its 7-13 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 5-12 record after their 53-36 non-league loss to West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC).
