Hudson Pirates (Hudson, IA) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Grundy Center Spartans (Grundy Center, IA), 70-59 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Hudson upgrades its record to 14-8 on the campaign. The Pirates host West Branch (West Branch, IA) to play the Bears in a non-league bout on Thursday, February 9. The Bears come into the bout with a record of 10-8. West Branch lost 85-72 in their recent league bout against Wilton (Wilton, IA)

Next up, the Spartans play the Montezuma Braves (Montezuma, IA) in a non-league game, on Tuesday, February 7. Grundy Center will attempt to move on its 13-4 season record. The Braves enter the game with a 15-5 record after their 73-72 non-league loss to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (Eddyville, IA).
