The Hempfield Area Spartans (Greensburg, PA) basketball felled the host Butler Golden Tornado (Butler, PA), 59-49 in Monday's league test.
The Spartans (9-11) will now prepare for their test against North Allegheny (Wexford, PA). The Tigers go into the WPIAL 6A 1 test with a 13-4 record. In their last test, North Allegheny thwarted Seneca Valley (Harmony, PA), 48-34, in a league test.
The Golden Tornado now own a 10-9 record. They play next when they travel to Pine-Richland for a WPIAL 6A 1 test on Thursday, February 9. Butler will encounter a Rams squad coming off a 62-29 league loss to Norwin (North Huntingdon, PA). The Rams record now stands at 9-9.
