Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds (Winthrop, MN) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Mustangs (Hector, MN), 77-76 in a league bout.

With the win, Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop upgrades its record to 12-9 on the season. The Thunderbirds travel to Springfield (Springfield, MN) to play the Tigers in a A Section 2 bout on Thursday, February 8. The Tigers go into the bout with a record of 14-6. Springfield won 80-74 in their recent league bout against New Ulm Cathedral (New Ulm, MN)

Next up, the Mustangs play the St. Mary's Knights (Sleepy Eye, MN) in a A Section 2 bout, on Thursday, February 8. Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart will attempt to upgrade on its 2-19 season record. The Knights go into the bout with a 15-6 record after their 72-63 league loss to Minnesota Valley Lutheran (New Ulm, MN).
