Wingate Bears (Fort Wingate, NM) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Crownpoint Eagles (Crownpoint, NM), 49-43 in a league bout.

With the victory, Wingate upgrades its record to 6-12 on the campaign. The Bears travel to Zuni (Zuni, NM) to play the Thunderbirds in a 3A District 1 bout on Thursday, February 8. The Thunderbirds come into the bout with a record of 8-12. Zuni lost 80-68 in their recent league bout against Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM)

Next up, the Eagles play the Tohatchi Cougars (Tohatchi, NM) in a 3A District 1 bout, on Thursday, February 8. Crownpoint will attempt to upgrade on its 3-18 season record. The Cougars come into the bout with a 13-7 record after their 81-61 league loss to Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM).
