St. John's Pioneers (Shrewsbury, MA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Doherty Memorial Highlanders (Worcester, MA), 89-72 in a non-league battle.

The Pioneers now possess a 5-11 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to North for a non-league battle on Friday, February 9. St. John's will confront a Polar Bears team coming off a 81-47 league win over South (Worcester, MA). The Polar Bears record now stands at 15-0.

The Highlanders (8-7) will now prepare for their battle against Hopkinton (Hopkinton, MA). The Hillers come into the non-league battle with a 14-2 record. In their last battle, Hopkinton beat Holliston (Holliston, MA), 63-48, in a league battle.
