The Superior Spartans (Superior, WI) basketball edged the visiting Duluth East Greyhounds (Duluth, MN), 56-49 in Thursday's non-league bout.

The Spartans now possess a 9-11 record. They play next when they host Hibbing for a non-league bout on Friday, February 7. Superior will play a Bluejackets team coming off a 68-21 non-league loss to Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] (Eveleth, MN). The Bluejackets record now stands at 2-20.

With the loss, Duluth East falls to 10-14 on the campaign. The Greyhounds travel to Bemidji (Bemidji, MN) to play the Lumberjacks in a non-league bout on Saturday, February 8. The Lumberjacks go into the bout with a record of 15-8. Bemidji won 75-16 in their recent league bout against Sauk Rapids-Rice (Sauk Rapids, MN)
