The crowd at Thursday's league challenge between the Stringer Red Devils (Stringer, MS) and the host Leake County Gators (Walnut Grove, MS), observed Stringer's basketball team edge Leake County by a margin of 35-33.

The Red Devils (7-18) will now prepare for their challenge against Taylorsville (Taylorsville, MS). The Tartars come into the 1A Region 7 challenge with a 16-13 record. In their last challenge, Taylorsville edged Leake County (Walnut Grove, MS), 48-33, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Gators battle the Mount Olive Pirates (Mount Olive, MS) in a 1A Region 7 challenge, on Friday, February 7. Leake County will attempt to better on its 7-14 season record. The Pirates come into the challenge with a 1-17 record after their 12-0 league win over Mississippi School for the Deaf (Jackson, MS).
