In Thursday's league contest, the host Mecklenburg County Phoenix basketball team scored a big 50-28 triumph over the Tunstall Trojans.

The Phoenix (11-7) will now prepare for their contest against Bassett (Bassett, VA). The Bengals go into the Piedmont contest with a 10-9 record. In their last contest, Bassett smashed Halifax County (South Boston, VA), 54-32, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Trojans confront the Altavista Colonels (Altavista, VA) in a non-league contest, on Monday, February 10. Tunstall will attempt to better on its 7-12 season record. The Colonels go into the contest with a 4-16 record after their 73-41 league loss to Gretna (Gretna, VA).
