Somerset Spartans (Somerset, WI) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Ellsworth Panthers (Ellsworth, WI), 61-59 in a league bout.

With the victory, Somerset upgrades its record to 16-4 on the campaign. The Spartans host Altoona (Altoona, WI) to play the Railroaders in a Middle Border bout on Friday, February 10. The Railroaders come into the bout with a record of 13-8. Altoona won 56-38 in their recent league bout against St. Croix Central (Hammond, WI)

Next up, the Panthers play the Osceola Chieftains (Osceola, WI) in a Middle Border bout, on Friday, February 10. Ellsworth will attempt to upgrade on its 9-10 season record. The Chieftains come into the bout with a 8-13 record after their 64-27 league loss to Amery (Amery, WI).
